• combination locks for the bag/locker

• laundry bag (not nylon)

• sleeping bag liner (The IDF are not the best at washing their sleeping bags) After training, sheets are usually allowed if you bring them

• flip- flops (for shower)

• toiletries  - all in one shower gel/hair shampoo saves space and weight

• rubber bands for the bottom of the trousers

• Spare grey or black socks for boots (combat soldiers – get good, expensive ones if possible)

• sportwear

• shoe polish (colour depends on unit) + shoe brush

• Mozzie Repellent – vital

• Shaver

• Watch (most popular brand is G-shock by Casio, but anything that can handle dust and water and mud is fine for combat soldiers)

• Moisturiser

• Indelible marker pen and NAME EVERYTHING

Combat Soldiers

• lighter

• flat screwdriver (the army supply you, but it will break)

• socks (special gray socks) at least 4 pairs and best to buy most expensive combat ones (from Ricochet)

• sportwear – but, the army should supply you with pocketless shorts, (not good, but does the job)

• Shaving brush (for cleaning the weapon)

• Isolirband (the army supply you, but the more the merrier)

• talc

• Anti chafing cream

• Flashlight (MUST have a red light for field, preferably headmounted)

• Portable Charge – for telephone and spare battery packs if possible.

• Leatherman multi-tool - don't get expensive one as things might go "missing"...

• Clothesbags - heavy duty polythene bags used to separate clothing to make it easier and quicker when changing/locating gear

• Roll of elastoplast - good for taping feet, toes and hip to stop boots and vest rubbing. Useful before hikes – vital for all machine gunners.
